Most mountain gorillas—around 604—live in the Virunga Massif, a chain of beautiful parks shared by Rwanda, the DR Congo, and Uganda’s Mgahinga National Park. The rest, about 459, are found in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, based on the 2018 census, with a new count that began in May 2025 still in progress.
